Born out of firsthand industry experience and a deep understanding of procurement challenges, the idea of Hardhats Hub was conceived during the early COVID lockdowns.

The shift from offline to online purchasing revealed a gap in India's market, one that we are determined to bridge by offering better understanding, variety, availability, pricing, logistics, and customer support.

Sri Chandra Vegunta, Founder

Education & Industry Background

With a strong foundation in Civil Engineering, Sri Chandra Vegunta went on to pursue a Master’s in Construction and Facilities Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Growing up in a family-owned construction business, he was exposed to the field from a young age, actively working on-site since the age of 16.

Following his postgraduate studies, Sri spent 5.5 years working in a Curtainwall sub-contractor company as a Project Manager in the United States, gaining invaluable experience in both construction and manufacturing industries through direct involvement in the company’s production plant.

The Vision Behind Hardhats Hub

The idea for Hardhats Hub was born during the COVID lockdowns in the United States, when Sri took on revised job duties that involved procuring materials for projects. This experience highlighted a major difference between the U.S. and Indian markets while the U.S. had a one-stop solution for tools and consumables with a touch and feel experience, India lacked an organized system for such procurement. He quickly saw an opportunity to fill this gap.

The pandemic also accelerated the shift from offline to online purchases in India, making Sri’s concept even more feasible. Determined to bring structure to an unorganized but high-potential market, he moved back to India in August 2024 to turn this vision into reality.

Under Sri’s leadership, Hardhats Hub is aimed to become an organized procurement solution catering to Construction, O&M (including Automotive), and Manufacturing industries. With a market size of approximately $20 billion in India, the sector is still largely unstructured, creating an immense opportunity for better availability, pricing, logistics, service, and customer support.

Sri is also spearheading partnerships with vendors to set up authorized service centers, ensuring customers receive expert guidance, repairs, and after-sales support.
